Homework Day 3/extension: Prepare for Persuasive Letter

 

Answer the following five questions before you think about writing a persuasive letter. Yes, I know youÕve answered them before. Have your opinions changed since reading about Katrina? Provide examples.

1)    If a huge earthquake were to hit San Francisco tomorrow, the city would be prepared to handle it.

 

 

2)    If a huge earthquake were to hit San Francisco tomorrow, my family would be prepared.

 

 

 

3)    City, state and federal government should be responsible for helping people deal with natural disasters.

 

 

 

4)    The government helps all people equally when it comes to things like natural disasters.

 

 

 

5)    In a natural disaster, prisoners and undocumented immigrants do not deserve the same assistance from the government as other people do.

 

 

YouÕll soon be writing a persuasive letter about some of the topics above to a person in your family, your community, San Francisco or state government. Who do you think you might want to write to? Why? What do you think you might want to persuade them to do?
