The books in the Voice of Witness series seek to illuminate human rights crises by humanizing the victims. By allowing them to tell their stories, we seek to engender greater understanding. Voice of Witness is a nonprofit project, aimed at engaging readers of all levels - from high school and college students to policymakers.

Upcoming Voice of Witness events
In light of the upcoming publication of Out of Exile and the the paperback release of Underground America, Voice of Witness editors and narrators will be reading and discussing the books around the country, including the following dates:

San Francisco Chronicle Feature
Chronicle writer Reyhan Harmanci covered the recent Voice of Witness event in San Francisco, and conducted a follow-up email interview with Underground America narrator Lorena. California-based writer Sandra Hernandez worked as an interviewer for Underground America, and recently wrote this article for the Daily Journal on an appalling home raid conducted by Immigrations and Customs Enforcement Agents:

Voice of Witness Event in San Francisco
San Francisco: 826 Valencia will be hosting a discussion of Underground America: Narratives of Undocumented Lives on Tuesday, July 29 at 7pm in the Mission.
