As we approach the start of 2011, we’d like to take a moment to thank you for making this a fantastic year for us, and to let you know how far we’ve come with your help and generosity. We’re a very small organization with a lean budget, but we’ve been able to do so much with your support! Because of our donors, volunteers and other supporters, this year we have:
Sent editors to conduct interviews in Burma, Bangladesh, Thailand, Zimbabwe, South Africa and Colombia.
Forged a successful partnership with legal nonprofit Justice Now to record the life stories of women in prisons throughout the U.S. for our forthcoming book Women Inside: Narratives from America’s Incarcerated Women.
Conducted interviews with men and women from Arab, Middle Eastern, South Asian and Muslim communities in the U.S. for our forthcoming book on hate crimes and profiling since 9/11.
Launched our education pilot program with Facing History and Ourselves. Since August, we have reached more than 750 students in high schools throughout the San Francisco Bay Area.
Presented our work to the public through more than a dozen readings, workshops, panels and festivals throughout the U.S.
Published our latest title Hope Deferred: Narratives of Zimbabwean Lives.
We have achieved so much this year, but we need your help to keep our work going strong.
