Peter Orner at South Dakota Festival of Books: Sept. 24-26

Peter Orner, editor of Underground America and the forthcoming Hope Deferred: Narratives of Zimbabwean Lives will be speaking at the South Dakota Festival of Books this weekend in Sioux Falls, SD. Peter will be participating in discussions of Underground America and his novel The Second Coming of Mavala Shikongo.

Also participating in the festival from the Voice of Witness/McSweeney’s family are Voice of Witness founder Dave Eggers and contributor to Out of Exile (and protagonist of Eggers’ book What is the What) Valentino Achak Deng.

Voice of Witness is a nonprofit book series that empowers those most closely affected by contemporary social injustice. Using oral history as a foundation, the series depicts human rights crises around the world through the stories of the men and women who experience them.
