About the Book:
Nowhere to Be Home will provide a platform for the unheard stories of men and women from Burma. In their own words, they will describe how their lives have been deeply altered by the country’s current military regime: refugees who have fled military-sponsored violence and ethnic and religious persecution; political dissidents jailed and tortured for their actions, and youth and community leaders working for solutions at great personal risk. Their stories will offer a powerful depiction of daily life within Burma as well as the tenuous border regions to which an estimated 1-2 million have fled.
So far, we have conducted over 60 interviews with refugees in the border regions of Thailand, Malaysia, and Bangladesh. You can read an excerpt of one these narratives here. Right now we are raising money to gather and edit crucial interviews from within Burma, China and India. We cannot complete the book without these interviews, and we can’t do it without your help. Please donate today and help us make this project a reality.
