Voice of Witness is looking for a Development and Communications Associate to help us expand our fundraising and outreach capacities. JOB SUMMARY
The Development Associate will support the Executive Director in building resources and creating effective communications through a variety of fund development and communications strategies. This includes:
• Researching and writing proposals for individual, corporate, foundation and government grants.
• Working on strategies for fundraising campaigns and events.
• Planning, implementing and managing a comprehensive major gift fundraising program that supports Voice of Witness fundraising priorities. S/he will be responsible for identifying major gifts prospects, personal solicitations and donor cultivation.
•    Coordinating annual donor fundraising letter mailings and other donor communications.
•    Writing content for fundraising components of Voice of Witness website and web-based donor communications including email newsletters and letters.

QUALIFICATIONS and EXPERIENCE
•    Bachelor’s degree required. Advanced degree and/or post-graduate training in fundraising preferred.
•    A minimum of two years’ experience in fundraising with progressive experience in multifaceted development work.
•    Demonstrated success in major gift cultivation, solicitation and stewardship, direct response, grant-writing, foundation, government and corporate funding.
•    Demonstrated success in fundraising events and campaigns.
•    Thorough understanding of all components of a diversified funding base including developing and managing budgets and knowledge of the most up-to-date donor tracking systems and tools.
• Excellent written, communication and organizational skills.
• Fundraising experience for arts and culture/humanities/literature/human rights programs preferred.
• Commitment to the mission of Voice of Witness and a sound understanding of our work.
