Storycorps

StoryCorps is an independent nonprofit project aimed at collecting oral histories from around the country. Beginning on October 12, 2008, and running for one year, the Contemporary Jewish Museum will be the first museum in the country to host StoryCorps, the renowned oral history recording booth, whose interviews have been broadcast on National Public Radio for several years.

Participants record their stories in the Storycorps booth and take home a free CD, while their story is archived for generations to come at the Library of Congress. Millions listen to the award-winning broadcasts on public radio and the internet. StoryCorps is one of the largest oral history projects of its kind, creating a growing portrait of who we really are as Americans.
